is there any other way?

My goal is to have Kyle completely potty-trained by October 13th. Why October 13th? It's the day he turns 3 1/2yrs old. I really never thought that I would have a child in diapers for this long. There were a lot of things I thought I would never do.. but things change when you actually start having your OWN kids! Ha!

Anywho, Kyle pees just fine by himself. He goes all by himself. He's now even getting better at telling me when he has to go #2. I now know the whole poop issue is because he has a looong history of constipation problems. But, that's not the problem.

How do you get a child to not wet the bed in the middle of the night? Is it something they just learn by themselves? The past two nights I let Kyle sleep in just his underwear, no diaper. I had to set the alarm every 2-3hrs, get up, carry him to the bathroom, and get him to go pee. No accidents, but I don't want to be waking up every 3hrs every.single.night! Potty-training is HARD work.

I try not to give him anything to drink after 8pm, and I do make him use the bathroom before he goes to sleep. Am I missing something?

Hi Laura. No need for you to get up ever 3 hours to make sure he goes pee. Instead of 8pm, make it a little earlier. If he's going to bed by 9, then I would cut the fluids by at least 7. This way, he can use the restroom one more time before he goes to bed. Once they can hold it all night, they are totally ready!

You know I don't have any answers for you this time (it's not a kitchen question, lol)! *sigh* I'm not really ready for any of this stuff, either... that's why you're going first with everything, hehehe ;) *hugs* It will be over before you know it, and this will be a distant memory! :o)

If you figure it out, let me know...

Shiloh has been potty trained for over six months (even at naptime), but she still wears a pullup at night. If I wake her up one time in the middle of the night, she usually stays dry, but I've read that you shouldn't do that. (Not sure why?)

My older 2 girls quit nighttime acidents by the age of 3 but my youngest deal with this issue until she was 10. Then we got one of those alarms for her to sleep with. With in 2 weeks she had no more accidents and that has been 2 years.

I only used the absorbent underwear and Jeffrey got the hang of it once he found out that he couldn't sleep in wetness. LOL! I think it only took a couple nights where he wet the bed.

We cut both our boys off with drinks at 7, no matter what time they go to bed. So try that.

My Lily just turned 3 and she refuses to pee on the potty. I'm just going to have to break out the panties and have her wear them all the time until she realizes that she doesn't like it running down her leg. My other 2 were no big deal....they never had nighttime accidents or anything. I have no idea why this one is so hard, but I've decided not to stress about it. I do get a lot of everyone else thinking they could do it so easily. Last time her Dad put her in panties, she promptly pooped in them. I told him it wasn't so easy, was it? Ha!! You're right...it's hard work!
